Courtney is a seventh grader at Heart to Heart Christian Academy in Phoenix,
Arizona where she maintains a 4.0 G.P.A. and scored in the upper 1% on the Stanford
Achievement Test. She was named the Overall Academic Student of the Year for her school in
1997 and 1998, was her school's Spelling Bee Champion, was nominated to the National
Geographic Kids Hall of Fame and had two of her short stories nominated for the Fullbright
Young Essay Award.
In 1997 and 1998, Courtney was selected as the Arizona State Speech Champion
and served as President of her class both years. Additionally, she was awarded the Most
Valuable Player Award on both her school's Volleyball and Basketball teams.
She is a member of the Valley Cathedral Church where she has served as a
Vacation Bible School Teacher for first and second graders for the last two years and was
Secretary of the Children's Choir. She was also recognized as the only youth volunteer at
her church to receive a special award for dedication and leadership during 1998. |
Jonna Maas
Pre-Teen America (Jr.)
Jonna is a fifth grader at Walnut Grove Public School in Walnut
G rove, Minnesota where she maintains a 4.0 G.P.A. and scored in the upper 1% in the
nation on the Stanford Achievement Test and the Iowa Basic Skills Test. She is a member of
the Student Council, is a Peer Student Delegate and is a member of her schools
Basketball and Track Teams. In addition, she was voted as the Student "Most Likely to
Succeed" and "Best All-Around" by her classmates.
Jonna was selected as the youngest member, to date, to attend the Youth As
Resources gathering in Washington, D.C. and was selected the television and radio voice
for Laura Ingalls Wi1ders promotions overseas. She was also named as one of the
Outstanding Junior Volunteer Award winners by Minnesota Governor Arne Carlson for
volunteering over 240 hours during 1997 alone . She is a member of the English Lutheran
Church in Walnut Grove where she is a lay reader and a member of the Childrens
Choir. |
