Nichole Sanders

Pre-Teen America (Sr.)

Nichole is an "A" Honor Roll student at Kemper Academy in DeKaib Mississippi where she is a member of the Junior High Student Council and a Junior High Honor Society Member. She was also selected for the National HonorRoll from the United States Achievement Academy. She is an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was selected to attend the 1999 Women in Action Summer Program sponsored by the Society of Women Engineers at Mississippi State University. Nichole is a member of the Junior High Cheerleading Squad and was selected as an All-Star cheerleader in 1999. In addition, she is a member of the Junior Varsity Basketball team that was undefeated and the Class A District champions in the 1998-1999 season.
Nichole is an eleven-year dance student and a member of the Junior Performance Company, at the Carol Merrill Academy of Dance. She has attended summer dance programs at Ballet Magnificat, Jackson Mississippi and The Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham Alabama. In addition, she is a member of the Mississippi Dance Association. Nichole has performed with the Meridian Little Theater and Productions of the Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, and Snow White. She is a member of Kemper County 4-H and was selected for the National League of Junior Cotillions.
She is a member of Blackwater Baptist Church where she is active in her youth group and choir and has participated in the Baptist Association Bible Drills for five years. Nichole provides volunteer work for the American Cancer Society, Mississippi Care Center, and Hamasa Temple.
In her "spare time", Nichole enjoys her computer and "surfing the net.".

Cassidy Duckett

Pre-Teen America (Jr.)

Cassidy is a fifth grader at the Webb Lower School in Knoxville, Tennessee. Although her independent day school does not give letter grades, Cassidy has received the equivalent of an "A" average in every subject throughout her entire academic career. In addition, she ranked in the top 1% of both public and private students nationwide on the standardized ERB comprehensive exams. Cassidy also writes thought provoking columns for the The Webb Page, plays cello in the Lower School Strings Ensemble, and creates web pages for the school's many after-school clubs as a member of the Computer Tech Club.
She also loves soccer and is a member of the AYSO Flames recreational team and the Lady Falcons U-b outdoor and indoor competitive squads. Cassidy also participates in the Knoxville Track Club Summer Program where she competes in the 400 and the long jump.
Cassidy is a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She is also involved in several volunteer projects including serving as a buddy at the Knoxville Boys and Girls Club; helping create 500 holiday cards for Meals on Wheels clients; collecting clothes, toys, and books for the needy in her community; and sponsoring an 11-year-old girl in India through the CFCA program.
In her spare time, Cassidy enjoys creating recyclable art" out of discarded cardboard, plastic, and paper. She has designed several detailed pieces using everyday items such as bottle caps, egg cartons, and fast food containers.

  The 2000 Pre-Teen America Scholarship & Recognition Program was held recently at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Knoxville, Tennessee. Two Hundred Twenty Seven of America's best and brightest top female honor roll students, ages 8 to 13 years old, competed for over $25,000 in educational bonds, prizes, and awards. They qualified for this competition in their individual state programs throughout 1999.

The participants were evaluated in eight evaluation categories including (1) Academic Achievement (2) Volunteer Service to Church and Community (3) School Honors and Activities (4) Development of Personal Skills and Abilities (5) General Knowledgeability (6) Creative Evaluation Essay
(7) Communicative Ability (8) On-Stage Expressiveness and Overall Pre-Teen Image.
