The
Pre-Teen California Scholarship and Recognition Program was held recently at
the Holiday Inn Select in Bakersfield, CA. California’s best and brightest
top female students, ages 7 to 12 years of age, competed for over $5,000.00
in educational bonds, prizes and awards. They were also vying for the
opportunity to represent the State of California at the 2006 Pre-Teen
America National Competition, to be held July 2-7, 2006 at the Sheraton
Hotel in Birmingham, AL. There they will be competing for over $25,000.00 in
educational bonds, prizes and awards.The participants competed in seven
evaluation categories. 1) Academic Achievement, 2) Volunteer Service to
Church and Community, 3) School Honors and Activities, 4) Development of
Personal Skills and Abilities, 5) General Knowledge, 6) Communicative
Ability and 7) “On-Stage” Acknowledgment of Accomplishments.
The following are Senior Division titleholder and Runner-Ups:
1st Runner-Ups (Tied): Kathryn Wingfield - 11 years old from Paso Robles, CA
and
2nd Runner-Ups (Tied): Camille Loria - 12 years old from Palmdale, CA and
3rd Runner-Ups (Tied): Hannah Muldavin - 12 years old from Elk Grove, CA and
4th Runner-Ups (Tied): Jayne Hobin - 11 years old from Bakersfield, CA and 2nd Runner-Ups (Tied): Rachael Goforth - 9 years old from Browns Valley, CA and Samantha Smith - 9 years old from Clovis, CA 3rd Runner-Ups (Tied): Marissa Stave - 7 years old from Santa Barbara, CA and Samantha Calaguas - 7 years old from Livingston, CA
4th Runner-Ups (Tied): Makenzie Weible - 9 years old from Escalon, CA and
Madeline Evans - 9 years old from El Cajon, CA and Junior Speech Winner: Claire Rhine - 9 years old from Bakersfield, CA
