The 2001 Pre-Teen Indiana Scholarship and Recognition Program was recently held at the Hilton Hotel in Ft. Wayne. Approximately 70 of Indiana's best and brightest top female honor roll students, ages 7-12 years old, competed for over $5,000 in educational bonds, prizes, and awards, as well as, for the opportunity to qualify for competition in the 2002 Pre-Teen America National competition to be held in Birmingham, Alabama, where they will compete for over $25,000 in educational bonds, prizes, and awards.
The participants were evaluated in seven judging criteria divisions,
including: Academic Achievement, Volunteer Service, School Honors and Activities, Development of Personal Skills and Abilities, General Knowledgeability, Communicative Ability, and On-Stage Expressiveness and Overall Pre-Teen Image.

1st Runner-Up:
Lacey Conley, 11 yr. old daughter of Thomas and Vickie Conley of Kendallville

2nd Runner-Up:
Kerri Kinker, 11 yr. old daughter of Thomas and Judith Kinker of Greensburg

3rd Runner-Up:
Katie Miller, 11 yr. old daughter of Mike and Carol Miller of Winchester

4th Runner-Up:
Ashley Craft, 12 yr. old daughter of Marty and Jonella Craft of Rosedale

Sarah Weigel, 7 yr. old daughter of Bret and Elizabeth Weigel of Lawrenceburg

1st Runner-Up:
Caitlin Harrington, 9 yr. old daughter of Michael and Patricia Mathias of Avilla
